DIY Vitamin C Serum

Very affordable and easy to make, DIY Vit. C serum really improves your skin.  Due to ascorbic acid being unstable in an aqueous medium, it only lasts a week.  Make sure you use pure ascorbic acid powder and not the tablets/pills.  Enjoy!

  1. Jena, have you tried refrigerating your serum AFTER making it? I'm curious as to it lasting a little longer than a week! And by the way, can I just tell you that I only found your blog site after viewing one of your YouTube videos, WHICH ARE GREAT, I might add:-) I was tickled to death to find another sister who having some of the same skin issues, and who researched as much as I love to! But, what should one expect from a fellow Aries, right? I've already purchased the CeraVe and am awaiting my order of Dr. Denese's book from Half.com, as well as my M.D. Forte Cleanser and 8 oz. pkt. of ascorbic acid! I'm too, TOO excited:-)

  2. Hi donnagwen,
I've tried refrigerating my serum, but doesn't seem to extend the shelf life too much. I'm so glad that my videos/blog could help someone because I know how hard it is to have skin problems. Good luck with your clear skin journey :)

  3. I also make my own DIY vit C serum using another youtube forumla (closer to the skinceutical one) and I package it in an air tight pump bottle (bought online), which I then wrap with foil paper and place in the fridge.
Seriously, it's been ~ 4weeks and no color change. I did use a preservative so that prob helps too.

  4. I've got to try the foil method. Hopefully, my serum will last a bit longer.

instead of glycerin, can you use a carrier oil such as hazelnut for moisture?

    Hi,
I think using oil would be okay, but it may not emulsify.
